The Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University is seeking a highly
experienced and dynamic individual to manage and expand the business potential of this
multidisciplinary academic research institution. The Business Development Leader for Soft
Robotics will be responsible for integrating Wyss’s research initiatives with robotics business
opportunities in the life sciences industry. This individual will work with the Technology &
Business Development team and report to the Operations Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary responsibilities of the Director of Business Development for the
Soft Robotics group will include identifying and developing business strategies for soft robotics
technology, with a particular focus of healthcare and medical device applications. To achieve
these goals, the role will collaborate with a diverse team of researchers and technologists to
maximize the potential for this revolutionary technology across the business spectrum from
market development, licensing and/or spinout. The candidate will work across the organization
to mentor faculty and researchers and technologists in building visibility and opportunities for
soft robotic technology.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should have a Masters or PhD in Engineering with 10 years of
business development experience in robotics, preferably with specialized experience in
wearable (soft) robotics. The successful candidate will leverage a broad base of business
development to work across the business spectrum from development to licensing and/or
spinout. He or she should be well-versed in bioengineering, life sciences and market trends
within the industry. The candidate must be able to thrive in an academic atmosphere, while
being entrepreneurial enough to succeed in a startup environment. This position requires
collaborating and mentoring a diverse group of team members, including faculty members,
researchers, engineers, and business developers. The successful candidate will be able to do so
confidently and effectively.

provided. This is a full-time position located in Cambridge, MA. Relocation is available for the
